Blemished skin

Want to know how to conceal those pesky pimples? Need coverage without clogging pores? Blemish prone skin needs extra attention, not only do you want good coverage to hide any imperfections and create the illusion of flawless skin, you also need makeup that will help combat them.

Be sure to use gentle, oil-free make-up. Mineral is best. It allows the skin to breathe freely and is free of heavy fillers and pore clogging ingredients including talc, dyes, fragrance and mineral oil.

Try ELES Liquid Powder Mineral Foundation SPF 15. An outstanding oil-free liquid formula which glides on velvety smooth and sets to a soft powder finish which lasts all day. Its ‘non-occlusive’ formula allows the foundation to enhance the complexion without covering up the skin, allowing it to “breathe” freely.

ELES Cosmetics Mineral Makeup Liquid Powder Foundation

This product has made a huge contribution to my confidence as I was unfortunately a victim of adult acne. It is gentle and light on my skin, still allowing my pores to breath. I feel like I’m not wearing any makeup at all when I have it on and there is no oily residue. Amazing.” Justine L

Dry Skin

If your skin in notoriously dry then powder is not your friend, it will only accentuate the dry areas — big no-no! Powders tend to sit on dehydrated skin as opposed to blending in and providing the more ‘natural’ coverage we all desire. Arm yourself with a good cream or liquid foundation or BB Cream. The more hydrating the base the better.

Try ELES BB Cream 30. Packed with moisture replenishing ingredients, this innovative treatment cream primes, tints, nourishes, evens out skin tone, and helps to strengthen and protect skin on contact. Upon application, skin immediately appears more uniform, hydrated and luminous.

Sensitive Skin

Go mineral all the way! Mineral makeup is always best for those with sensitive skin or prone to breakouts. Ingredients such as talc, artificial dyes, lanolin and mineral oil which may be found in some foundations are proven to be irritating to many sensitive skin types. Mineral makeup is hypoallergenic, mineral oil free, talc-free, dye free and paraben so you really are applying the best of the best on your skin.

Try ELES Mineral Powder Foundation. Highly compatible for even those with the most sensitive of skin, it works as a translucent powder or a buildable coverage foundation easily adjusting from sheer to richer coverage. Non-irritating, chemical free sunscreen also protects again UV damage.

Good news! If you have oily skin you’re less prone to deep-set wrinkles in the future! But…you probably have trouble getting your foundation to last all day right?. The hero for oily skin types is prepping skin with a good primer which will keep your foundation in place all day.

Try ELES Pore Perfecting Face Primer. The ultimate multi-tasker! Lightweight and oil-free, the techno advanced formula absorbs oil and reduces pore size to combat shine in multiple ways. Mature skin

We are all on the quest for youthful skin but many are under the illusion that the more foundation they apply the more seamless their skin will look. Too much foundation can actually have the opposite effect – especially on mature skin – as it can settle into fine lines and wrinkles and make them look more pronounced.

Opt for a CC cream which adapts to your individual skin tone or use a lightweight, luminous foundation with light-reflecting pigments that will make your skin look radiant and youthful. Also go for warmer tones that help counteract complexion pinkness which comes with thinning of the skin and exposure of fine capillaries.

ELES Cosmetics Mineral Makeup CC Cream 20

Try ELES CC Cream 20.  A formidable fusion of skincare and makeup, this anti-aging, lightweight, oil-free colour correcting cream with broad spectrum protection sunscreen soothes, protects, moisturises and dramatically corrects imperfections in one lone application. Micro-encapsulated pigments adapt to individual skin tones while sheer, light-scattering optics help neutralise imperfections by reflecting light away from lines and flaws.

Wonderful product, great coverage, looks so natural and skin looks radiant. Love the additional in-built SPF for protection.” Sarah N

What’s New? Korean “blurring” makeup technique

ELES Cosmetics Mineral Makeup The Korean Blurring Technique 2

Hello, #selfie generation! Please don’t raise your eyebrows, one way or another we’re all guilty of putting filters on our photos to make us all look a bit more flawless. Which filter is your favourite? Mine’s “magic skin” which is similar to blurring your skin a bit to hide imperfections like a small dot here, a fine line there. With this feature I can adjust the intensity, so what I do, I blur my skin a bit so I’ll look natural (and not fake).

Enter Korea’s blurring technique which I stumbled upon just recently. Basically, it is a technique used to conceal pimples, fine lines, and uneven skin tone by dabbing and blending on problem areas, hiding them without looking too fake or too made up. It makes you look more natural by giving your face a bit of a coverage. The imperfection is there but it’s hidden. You don’t look like a barbie doll heavily made up on a regular day, especially now when it’s winter in Australia and it’s best to keep makeup to a minimum.

Why not blur the entire face and look like a walking magazine cover model?

Well, posing for a magazine cover shoot isn’t the same as going to work daily. You don’t do grocery shopping or jogging looking like you’re walking the red carpet in a few minutes. You don’t want to look fake and heavily made up, when you’re going out for a few minutes to run errands. Please don’t think concealing the entire face is okay. That is not right. You just won’t look natural that way. Yes, NATURAL. That’s the word.

Do you need products that has the word “blur” in the label? Not really. Before you jump into the fad and do compulsive makeup shopping, I’d like to remind you that blurring is a technique, not a product. The kind of product you use helps make the blurring technique easier to achieve so a choosing primer/tinted moisturiser/cream with light reflectors/light-scattering optics help cover the imperfections.

ELES Cosmetics Mineral Makeup The Korean Blurring Technique

Here are the products I highly recommend for the blurring technique:

For a nice, clean, canvas, you need to create a natural-looking base. Apply as you regularly would, but on pimples and fine lines, do the “blurring technique” aka “dab & blend.”  Use the (1) ELES Retexturizing Face Primer which is a virtually weightless serum that contains opalescent light reflectors that diminish lines and leave a translucent effect on the skin. Use this with the (2) ELES Tinted Moisturizer – Mineral Sheer Tint SPF 20 for a water-resistant veil of natural-looking coverage that’s meant to last all day. Alternatively, you may also use the (3) ELES Luminous CC Cream 20 if you have uneven skin tone. It comes out white and transforms to skin colour on application. Its sheer, light-scattering optics help neutralise imperfections by reflecting light away from flaws.

To subtly hide pimples and fine lines, dab and blend the (4) ELES Phototouch Concealer on problem area. Dark undereyes? No problemo! Using a brush, dab and blend the (5) ELES Dual Action Concealer and look fresh in an instant.

Now, do a makeup test and take some photos!

Concealer tips and tricks to have your skin looking flawless in next to no time!

ELES Cosmetics Mineral Makeup Phototouch Concealer Dual Action

A concealer can offer a multitude of benefits while hiding a multitude of sins! But not every concealer can tackle every issue in one application. In general concealers are formulated to target something specific so it’s best to decipher what you want from your concealer and then select which is best for you!

Dark circles

The best way to conceal dark circles is with an under eye corrector.  These are fine textured concealers that have a strong “peachy” tone that counteracts the blueish tinge of the shadows.  By using a good corrector and a lightweight concealer you’ll have the cover you need without a thick mask that falls into fine lines and looks cakey. Try Dual Action Concealer

Redness/broken capillaries

Green correctors used to be the best solution for concealing redness, however they can make the skin look flat and lifeless.  CC Creams (colour correction) with photo-optic filters will help reflect back light on the skin greatly reducing skin redness and the dark red of broken capillaries. Try Luminous CC Cream 20

For pimples, an antibacterial concealer is ideal, oil free and non-comedogenic cover ups are best and many now have skin enhancing benefits to sooth inflammation.  Avoid mineral oil, lanolin and talc based products which tend to block the pores and exacerbate the acne. Try Photo Touch Concealer

Avoid oil based products on the skin or occlusive products that trap heat.  CC Creams, Water-based foundation, Mineral Makeup and foundations with soothing ingredients are best. Try Luminous CC Cream 20

When you have selected your concealer follow these top tips to achieve the best coverage you can;

When to apply concealer

If you use a powder foundation, always apply your concealer before your foundation.
If you’re using a liquid foundation, you should apply your concealer after foundation.

A little goes a long way

Don’t go overboard with your concealer because you think it’s necessary to hide that blemish, if you’ve selected the right concealer for you a little really will go a long way.

How to avoid concealers sinking into/accentuating lines, wrinkles and crepey skin

There is a very fine line between over-preparing the skin and causing the product to slip off and under-preparing the skin and causing it to absorb into the skin.  The area should be well hydrated without being greasy so a good eye cream around the eyes and a hydrating concentrate will help prepare the skin for makeup.  Allow time for the product to absorb and settle. The key is not to apply too much product, keep every layer fine and light and you’ll have a more natural and lasting result to your makeup.

Change the Consistency with Primer
If you’re covering larger areas and you want a concealer that is a little more fluid, combine a little with some primer to change the consistency. Try Pore Perfecting Face Primer

How to maintain concealer’s longevity

Avoid touching the concealer with fingers or directly onto the skin, apply concealer with a clean concealer brush to avoid contamination and ingredient breakdown. Try Small Concealer Brush
