Get the Look: Bella’s Eyes “Breaking Dawn”

By special request.

There’s no denying Bella’s (aka Kristen Stewart) eyes in “Breaking Dawn” are truly bewitching! So it’s no surprise one of our favourite fans; Gabrielle, has asked us to show her how to achieve this sultry look.  And as there probably others out there who would like to have Bella’s eyes, we thought we’d share with all of you!

Firstly, to get this look you need to prime the eyes well and allow the primer plenty of time to settle and dry.  You’ll need to blend the eyeshadow very well to achieve this look and damp skin may result in a patchy result.  If you don’t have a primer then blot the eyelids and shade the entire eyelid with a neutral face powder.

Step One.

Using a eye shadow contour brush, apply a deep shade in the crease of the eyelid and beneath the eye, move your brush back and forth to get a smooth, consistent line and build the depth slowly, then taking a larger, fluffy shadow brush blend the edges out to achieve a smooth smokey effect with no edges visible. We recommend Mineral Eyeshadow Titanium

Step Two.

Apply a white irridescent shadow along the upper eyelid directly above the lashes then take the colour to the centre of the eyes and below approx 1/3 in.  To achieve a stronger effect apply the shadow to your hand, dampen your brush and apply wet to the skin. This will also make the shadow stay put longer.  We recommend Mineral Eyeshadow Opal.

Step Three.

Apply black eyeliner to the outer corner of the eyes winging the liner to create a thicker outer edge.  Ensure your liner follows the entire lash line towards the nose.  If you lack confidence applying a liquid liner create the line with a pencil liner first, then follow the line with your liquid liner over the top.  We recommend Liquiliner Anisette. Apply lashings of mascara to the outer corners of the eye.  Apply several coats allowing the mascara to dry between coats to achieve a “false lash” effect. To help prevent the mascara from clumping keep the strokes smooth and wiggle up the lashes from the base to the tip.

Step Four.

Ensure your brows are tidy and using Browblender Pencil create a lift to the shape in the outer corners.  This is key to achieving this vampish look. Brush the brows to soften the effect.

Step Five.

Finish by contouring from the centre brow down the side of the nose.

Additional tips:

  • This is a “shine free” makeup look so finish by dusting some Mineral Powder Foundation all over the face.
  • No blush required if you want to look like a vampire!  Instead apply a deep red lip colour and blot to mattify.
  • Red Contacts Optional 🙂

Traveling Beauty: Bigger, Bolder, Brighter Eyes in 4 Easy Steps

Traveling Beauty

Every lady traveler’s dilemma: “How do I squeeze in all of my travel must have’s in this 7kg hand luggage?”

Oh my! You’ve got an hour to pack and you’ve got lots of things to keep close while onboard the plane.

✔ Passport, ticket, other important documents
✔ Gadgets: laptop or tablet, cellphone, camera etc.
✔ Scarf
✔ Basic skincare needs
✔ Makeup

The list doesn’t end there and as you try to put in more, you’ll of course have to minimize the number of items that fall under each kind. Makeup is a perfect example. You don’t need all of your makeup brushes. You don’t need too many lipstick. You don’t need to carry so many eye shadows!

When you’re traveling, we recommend you don’t put on too much makeup. The humidity inside the aircraft is way too low when you’re 40,000 feet above the ground causing your skin to dry. We recommend that instead of makeup, you go for a good moisturiser that’s easily absorbed by your skin. Drink plenty of fluid and catch some sleep.

Before touchdown, you wouldn’t want to look like you just got off your bed, would you? How do you make your eyes look bigger and bolder without having to carry too much makeup? EASY. You can achieve bright eyes with these four essential items.

ELES bigger brighter eyes in four steps

Hydra Bright Line Diffuser

This is a fantastic product that can make you look bright and flawless! It works with light diffusing ingredients to diminish fine lines and wrinkles, conceal under-eye darkness and camouflage any other imperfections.

For bigger eyes: Apply ELES Hydra Bright Line Diffuser

2 Compact Eyeshadow Palette

All three favourite shadows in one compact makes it easy for you to switch to a new look from time to time. Choose one neutral color like brown, one bright and daring for outdoors, and black if you have an evening party to attend.

For bigger eyes: Apply a neutral color (Bronzite 001, Limestone 004, or Topaz 007) on your inner rim. Pick shadows and customize your palette here.

Powder Liner Pencil in Chocolate

This powder liner is a wonder tool! Depending on the thickness of application, from light to heavy, it can turn a natural look to professional or evening look. The other end is a smudge tip that makes blending easier.

For bigger eyes: Stay away from black. Apply chocolate along your lash line for a more neutral look and blend using the smudge tip.

Sensitive Eyes Mascara

Thick eyelashes are instant head turners! This Sensitive Eyes Mascara gives you the lush look while keeping your eyes safe. Its fragrance-free, botanical formula magnifies your lashes without irritation. Perfect for travels!

For bigger eyes: Apply the first coat of mascara in an upward motion. Apply a second coat in outward motion (on your left eye – towards the left; right eye – towards the right).

There you have it! Your goal is to look fresh, not to look all made up!

Which Eyeliner? Choosing the Right Liner for Your Look

We’ve got three types of eyeliner in our range, the Automatic Long Lasting Eyeliner, Liqui Liner and Powder Liner Pencil. While at first it might seem crazy to keep three eyeliners on hand, each one helps to achieve a certain look.
We’ve curated a few fierce liner looks and pin pointed exactly which product will help you achieve the looks.

Best For Smokey Eye
Mila Kunis is the queen of the smokey eye and she seems to get the subtle blending down pat. Our Powder Liner Pencil is the ultimate in creating the classic sexy smokey eye. It leaves a soft powdery finish that will last all day plus has a specially designed sponge tip end to diffuse and blend with.

Best for Winged Eyeliner
Cute The Hills star Lauren Conrad loves a winged eye! Use our Liqui Liner to create this look. The easy to use slim-lined flexible brush made with natural hair makes precise application a breeze while the waterproof formula will dry and set instantly!
EXPERT TIP: Having trouble getting your flicks just right? Take a little bit of stick tape and take some of the stick away by pressing and removing it on your hand then apply it just below the bottom of the eye cornering upwards. Use this to trace your flicks and remove once the eyeliner is dry. Easy!

Best for Everyday Definition
If you’re looking for an eyeliner to define the eyes without making a statement, look no further than the Automatic Long Lasting Eyeliner. It’s long-lasting, waterproof, preservative free, mineral oil-free and contains anti-oxidants and Vitamins C and E, making it the perfect pencil for every day use.

Get Sorted: Organising and Storing Your Makeup

Storing makeup can be a challenge, especially if you’re sharing space with other people. Given that it’s something most of us use every day, it’s worth getting organised so you can cut time from your morning routine and keep your products clean.
Follow these steps for the ultimate makeup spring clean:

1. Check for Expired Product
If you’re anything like us, you can tend to hoard products without even realizing it. Get everything you’ve got out and take a look at it. Is there anything that you can’t even remember purchasing? Read this story on expired products to determine whether or not they’re headed for the bin. If you find empty containers, throw them out. Broken makeup? Read this post as you might be able to salvage them.

2. Clean
Gather all your makeup brushes and give them the once-over. Any that are truly dismal looking should head to the bin and you can purchase fresh ones here.
Those that are still worth keeping probably need a good clean. Check out out guide to washing makeup brushes. Once they’re dry, you’ll want to find a way to store them. We found this image on Pinterest and love the idea of keeping things organised and looking gorgeous cute at the same time.

3. Sort
Now that you’ve thrown out the expired products and products you haven’t touched in months and taken out your brushes, you’ll have a better idea of what you’ve got.
Organise everything into categories – base, eyes, lips and extras – and work out what you use every day, what you use every few days and what you only use for special occasions. If you’re the type to touch up on the go, you might also like to work out which products you need to carry with you.

4. Store
Whatever you use everyday should be on display and ready to grab. Check out The Makeup Box Shop. They have fabulous containers that allow you to see all your makeup so you can grab whatever you need. Fill the top drawers with your every day products and the next few with the things you only use every few days.
Invest in a few Makeup Bags and keep one with a few products that you can carry everywhere. Don’t let your makeup float around your bag, it will dirty your hand bag, leave germs on the product and it’s more likely you’ll lose things.
In another makeup bag, keep the products you only use for special occasions. This can be stored in a drawer or cupboard as you won’t need it as frequently.

5. Assess
After a week or so, assess how you think your newly organised makeup situation has been working for you. If there is anything stored that you’re using more often than you realized, get it out. Anything you didn’t touch can be stored.
You might also find that there are a few things your missing. If so, it’s time to hit the ELES Shop and get shopping!
